What do you think of names of states as baby names?

I used to work at a daycare and I had a 4 year old named Tennessee, a 4 year old named Montana, a 2 month old named Indiana, a 2 year old named Alaska, and even a baby named California! I also went to high school with a girl named Indiana.

I kind of like Georgia as a middle name, and I do like Montana and Indiana, Carolina and Dakota are alright, and Virginia is just too old timey.. Now these are actual names.. but California...? What do you think?What do you think of names of states as baby names?
I know a girl named Tennessee, but she spells it as Tennasea.

My favorite name for a girl is Indiana.

Montana is ok, but I wouldn't use it.

Alaska is going a bit too far.

And because I live in California, California is not a name for a girl.

Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia are classic names, so they work.

I know two girls named Dakota, so I'm ok with it.

It depends on the name. Not all state names are good, just like not all nature names are good, or all month names are good. If I like a name, I like a name. I don't care if it's a state/nature/month/colour name or not.

BAD STATE NAMES:

California

Alaska

Tennessee is a crazy name!

I think Montana is cute.

I've never heard of any kids named Indiana, or California, but those are crazy!

Virginia and Dakota are cute.

I think some states are okay, but some are just too crazy to use as a baby's name!
The ones which are actual names are okay. The rest just sound ignorant and stupid.



(Aside: My daughter has a friend called Floraidh, which is the Gaelic spelling of Flora. She's always getting called Florida.)
New South Wales is a terrible name for a child
