How many people use family names for their baby?
Whether you already have a little one or a few little ones... or if you pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or just having fun with baby names... How many of you used or plan to use family names? My children's middle names will be family names. My son has his daddies middle name. When I have a daughter she will have my middle name... and possibly my sisters as a double barreled middle name. Any other children will have family middle names as well.|||A family name that's been passed down is the middle name Lee - my grandfather, father, and brother all have it, and I intend to use it for my first son as well. My middle name is after my great-grandmother - Rose. I want to use that in a daughter's name as well. I like the idea of honoring my parents or grandparents when I have children too. For example, my father's name is Brian, so I could name my son after him or name my daughter Brianne or Brianna. Things to think about! =)|||I plan on using family names when I have kids (in ten years or so). My middle name is after my great-grandma and my sister's middle name is our mother's middle name. I think it's a great way to honor family and give kids a piece of their heritage. I want to use my grandparents' names for my future children's middle and possibly first names. I would love to use all 3 of my grandpas' names (Bernard, Kenneth, and Earl), and Kenneth would probably be a first name. I would love for any future daughters to have any of my grandmas' names or my middle name.|||At the moment I'm not planning on it, unless something significant happens for me to want to honor a certain family member. I'm not that close with my family, so it's not an important thing to me.

What are your favorite celebrity baby names?
I've noticed that celebrity baby names are getting really weird lately, but I know that there are some gems out there. For instance, I love Seraphina Rose Elizabeth and Violet Anne, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's daughters' names. What are your favorites?|||I really like Emme, when I heard Jennifer Lopez named her daughter that, I thought it was simple but pretty. Angie Harmon has three girls named Avery Grace, Finley Faith and Emery Hope, those are pretty. Marcia Cross has twins Savannah and Eden and I really think those are beautiful names. John Travolta's son Jett is a unique name that I like. Tom and Nicole's kids Connor and Isabella are great names. A lot of celebrity's have kids named Jack and that is an awesome name. My favorite is probably Reese Witherspoon's daughter Ava, I noticed the name jumped in popularity after she named her daughter that. Fun question.|||I don't think anybody chooses a name to explicitly be "weird"... for celebrities who work so hard to stand out, you can imagine they think the are giving their child a leg up by giving them a name that stands out. but anyways, i like Reese Witherspoon daughters name, which is Ava...my aunt met both of them :D...my aunt was taking her grandchild to preschool and reese's daughter went there to. it was an average preschool, nothing fancy..and my aunt said resse looked soo awesome cuz she didnt have any makeup on, was in sweats and a tank and old navy flip flops =]
but anyways...yah thats the only thing i can think of...i think its retarded how michael jackson named his kid Blanket...duuuhhmmm

What baby names of historical figures for boys?
Okay so...my bf and I were comparing and contrasting some baby names. Since he's big on History and all that, just like Huey Freeman from the boondocks, so he wanted to chose a boy name of a historical figure as our son. Any lists or websites to suggest?|||I think Nikita personally, leader of the Russian party, it holds a lot of power as a name, translating to 'power of the people'. This was a pretty fantastic name and it's so unique, I've only met one in my life. Plus Elton John wrote a song about it and it rhymes with the ABBA song Chiquitita :D. Can also be a girls name in some cases hehe.

When did you start thinking about baby names?
For me since grade school (I'm 19 now).
Of course I'm not planning on having kids any time soon, but it's always nice to be prepared.
I love collecting baby names.|||Since I was in the 7th or 8th grade. I swear I had came up with so many names I was going to write a book. But my parents through all them names out.
I am now 23 years old and trying to conceive. My name list is still growing.|||i've been doing it for a while (17 now) i just like making them up and thinking of new ones.|||When I was younger and not married, I used to make up names for my children, when I had them. I had names for both boys and girls. Now I have three boys, and I started thinking seriously of names for them about a good month or two before they were born. With my oldest, I was on my own, so his name came to me while I was crocheting a blanket for him. With my second, his dad insisted on giving him his name, so that boy is a junior, and with the third, his dad tried to con me into giving him the same name again, but I didn't want to be like George Foreman, the boxer who has 5 boys all with his name, so we had to think a little harder. He did insist on both boys having his initials, so we came up with a name that worked with those initials.|||ha since as long as I could remember, maybe like 7th grade!!! I am 29 now :-)|||Forever! I'm 15 and have been interested in baby names for years (not planning on having any kidos anytime soon) :D|||LOL! I've been coming up with baby names since grade school too. I was like 6 or so and I got this doll for my birthday and I kept trying to come up with the perfect name for it. Eventually I started writing down all my favorite names in my notebooks and I still do that now and I'm 21.|||hehe me to! i started when i was about 14 in a little diary :) but i rememeber making up baby names for my dolls when i was small! im 21 now and have to say my names have changed lol since i was 14 :P|||I've kept journals with names in them since I was about six. What to do when your best friend wants to use your baby names?
I have been planning baby names, a few boys and a few girls names for when me and my husband of 6 yrs have baby number 2 and my friend has had a short 'courtship' and is getting married soon and thinking up baby names and a as for girl names there are no similarities but boy names she has my choices whether it be used as a first or middle name. I am frustrated cuz i have had these names for a while and love them. How do i stear her away from my names without getting rude?|||Well, neither of you is likely to have more than one child at a time. If you have "a few" names that you like, and she likes the same ones, just choose a different one of your favorites if she chooses one. In other words, don't do anything about it.|||It sucks, but nobody owns names and so there is nothing you can do about it. Coming up with baby names is very hard for me - I seem to find a problem with every name. When I got pregnant, I picked out a boy's name which I'm sooo in love with still. I then found out I was having a girl, and it took forever to decide on a name. I felt blessed that I had initially chosen a boy's name, because then, if I were told the gender wrong, I would have a name ready, while if it was the other way around, I would only have a name for one gender picked out.
I was so excited that I had a boy's name ready for future, and that if I were to get pregnant again, I'd only have to worry about finding another girl's name. Guess what a very close family named their son who was born soon after?|||It's a name. Just suggest something "more cute" than yours.|||The fact that you are 'dibsing' names is rather, well, 'juvenile' in my opinion.
There is no guarantee that you will BOTH have boys, if she uses a name you have mentioned really liking- why not be flattered that she thinks your taste is so good? If there is one you absolutely have our heart set on (although if you have a list it's not that likely!) you can ask her to pretty please NOT use that name, very few people will take offence to a request like that and honour it.
Also there is a MUCH smaller array of boys names that won't result in the child being teased, everyone tends to stick to the conventional popular names. So even if you DIDN'T share names lists, there is a good chance she could have chosen your dream names anyway!
If she is a good friend she will not use a name she knows you have your heart set on without ASKING you first, if I hadn't had my heart set on a particular girls name I would have asked my sister in laws permission to 'steal' her dream girls name! Mind I would have been extra careful about it as I inadvertently picked her top boys name for my son after my husband shot down MY dream boys name! What baby names should I seriously consider?
I am 21 weeks pregnant with my first child and plan on naming my baby boy Mason James. My boyfriend and I love kids, both want five children and are currently contemplating names for future kids.
Names on our list include:
Wyatt, Landon, Hudson, Harrison and Hayden for a boy.
Peyton, Zoey, Violet, Eloide for a girl.

Wyatt is my favorite out of your boy names. Hudson %26amp; Harrison are common last names in my area, so I personally would not use them. I also think Hayden sounds very feminine.
I don't really like Peyton, but I think Violet is a lovely name. I love Zoey, but I prefer it spelled Zoe. I'm not sure on the pronunciation of Eloide.
