Am I allowed to use Japanese baby names?

I am Japanese in heritage, but I don't look Asian. I definitely look Caucasian.

Would it be too odd to use Japanese baby names, do you think?Am I allowed to use Japanese baby names?
Of course you can use a japanese baby name! In fact, I think it would be a good idea because then you would be keeping your heritage alive even though it may not show appearence wise.
I think it depends on the name, as many Japanese names can be very relevant on a Caucasian baby. My [Asian] friend Kara is named Kara Kimiko T_____ after her Japanese grandmother. I've always loved the name Kimiko! She loves it too. I also went to college with a biracial (white mother/Asian father) girl named Mariko. Mariko and Kimiko would both make great middle names for a child. However, looking at your other favorite names, I'm not sure the sib-set of {Wesley, Harlan, Ruby, and Mariko} is too aesthetically pleasing.

So it definitely would depend on the name, as well as the siblings' names, and the middle. But I think it's definitely doable!Am I allowed to use Japanese baby names?
I don't think there are any hard and fast rules about what people call their children - just look at some of the strange and ugly names that are popular today, particularly among celebrities!

To me, Japanese names sound beautiful, and I hope you will choose to give your children names that celebrate their heritage.Am I allowed to use Japanese baby names?
I don't see why anybody would give a damn what you name your child. If they do, why the hell cares, it's a damn name. It's not like your naming the kid something ridiculous out of a bad Austin Powers movie.

The only thing you literally cannot name your child is something like "****" or "*****". Vulgarities are legally not acceptable names.
It's your heritage, why not? I recently found out that my great great grandmother was Mohawk indian which is cool. If you choose a Japanese name for your baby though be sure to do research to find out the meaning of the name. You wouldn't want to choose a beautiful sounding name but with the meaning of demon child would you?
course you can, there is no law against it. Just my only suggestion is, if you live outside of an Asian community try using a name that is easy to pronounce. One of my all time favorite Japanese names is Kimiko(kim-EE-ko). It's pretty straight forward, and absolutely adorable.

Good luck
Not at all. Just make sure that its not something in an anime....because thats what people would think.

Also, make sure its not too hard for non-asians to say. Ayameko is hard to pronounce if you don't know how to.

Japanese names are very beautiful. Remember, when giving a Japanese name, it is a wish for the child to grow as its trait.
There's nothing stopping you from choosing whatever name you like. For example, Naomi is a Japanese name, but Naomi Watts, star of films such as The Ring and King Kong, is clearly NOT Asian. She's English-Australian and very blond...kind of the anti-Asian.
The way you stated your quesion made you seem like you had to ask permssion to use a Japanese name for your child . Who cares if it may seem "odd" ? Name your child what you want to name it . No one else's opinion matters. It's your child not theirs . I hope I could help . :) Good luckk :D
Nobody's limited to only using names in their own language, culture, religion etc. Do what you want! I have no Japanese heritage at all but the name 'Minako' is a name I'd consider my little girl having (I don't have kids).
some people might view it as odd, but i think that u should do what u want. i don't have anything against it. for god sake, the Jackson's named one of their kids Prince. do whatever u want.
You can call your child anything you like, but think about the child growing up, any unusual names can cause bullying and embarrassment in school and later life.
Yes, I think you can use whatever name you please {any origin}!

I don't think it'd be too odd maybe if you paired the name with a more English name?

? {ag}
my name is Miya and it is a Japanese name.

i'm no where near being Asian.

i'm mainly Indian lol
My step-sis is not even Japanese heritage and she named her baby Ayra
you can use Jap name if it fits
I think so, I plan on using names from different cultures.
There is nothing wrong with it. Im Romanian and i have an Old English name.

I dont think it's odd at all.
Ya, you totally can. Just choose an easy Japanese name. there are lots of them.

good luck
not at all. go for it. it'll be much more unique too.
Not really. But it is weird to see a Japanese guy with a American name.
